Image Comics Preview Book - January 2015

I flipped through the latest Image Comics preview book that contains a few upcoming titles. These little snippets can be a good gateway into a new series. Sometimes these previews aren't printed elsewhere (example: Wytches preview), so these books might make a nice addition if you do become a fan of a new series.

I went through the preview book without looking up information on any series. This is somewhat an old school approach to deciding if a new series interests me or not. Here I go..

Savior by Brian Holguin, Todd McFarlane, and Clayton Crain. Coming April 2015.

Guy in a church gets cuffed. A few miles away, a different guy is walking on water. Some fire & lightning theatrics occur. A flaming figures warms the water walking guy not to tell anyone he is different. Last page has the cuffed guy in an interrogation room with a cigarette.

Does it interest me? No.

Injection by Warren Ellis, Declan Shalvey, Jordie Bellaire, and Fonografiks. Coming May 2015.

Maria Kibride in on her way to a research center after some people go missing. The car she is in passes a hooded woman with a weird eye and not-so-healthy skin. Apparently a rock had something to do with the incident at the research center. Maria walks into the room known as Actionable Archaeology Annex. The room she walks into turns into a completely different world. It looks like she is familiar with it.

Does it interest me? Yes. I enjoy Trees, which is another series by Warren Ellis. Good chance I will enjoy this.

No Mercy by Alex De Campi, Carla Speed McNail, and Jenn Manley Lee. Coming April 2015.

A bunch of students are on a trip. The panels are loaded with actual social media references. A splash page depicting a Facebook photo page has comments they are dead. Or missing. Not sure which one. A mysterious lady is shown on a bus, but nothing is mentioned of it.

Does it interest me? Sort of. I want to know what happened to all of them! The social media nods are also a nice touch.

Island by Brandon Graham, Emma Rios, Ludroe, Simon Roy, Michael DeForge, E. K. Weaver, Farel Dalrymple, Johnnie Christmas, Fil Barlow, and more. Coming June 2015.

It appears to be a collection of story covers. No stories really given.

Does it interest me? Not really.

RUNLOVEKILL by Eric Canete, Jonathan Tsuei, Leonardo Olea, and Manu Fernandez. Coming April 2015.

Rain Oshiro is a wanted person. A man named Janus needs to capture her alive. A superior General gives him 10 hours to bring her back or he will go about Rain in a different way. Panels within show Rain kicking butt. She also has interests in music, math, and theoretical physics. Quite a combination.

Does it interest me? Yes! Looks fairly packed with action. Rain's other interests should be entertaining as well.

Starve by Brian Wood and Danejel Zezelj. Coming May 2015.

Rivals squaring off after one finds out the other is back. It involves food and a show that is like Iron Chef. The world is in a financial crisis, so only the rich get have fun with the show, which is titled Starve.

Does it interest me? Slightly. There seems to be a dark humor to Starve that I enjoyed. The artwork complements the story.
