Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Trailer Reaction & Thoughts

OH. MY. GOODNESS.

This first trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is epic! It introduces Felicity Jones' character Jyn, and she literally wants to rebel. It seems she's caught for being bad, and maybe the Rebels entice her with a mission that will set her free after completion? Seems like a character arch for her. Maybe. Rogue One is answering a question that's been asked for nearly 40 years. This movie will be the definitive answer.

One of the established facts about this movie, and it's been said by director Gareth Edwards, that Rogue One will have the essence of a war film. Good!  I hope this has some consistent gritty, no hope kind of feel to compliment that war tone. There will probably be some one-liners thrown in, but this trailer certainly gives off the serious vibe. All the Force mumbo jumbo (that little phrase from Han Solo in The Force Awakens has stuck with me) feels like it will be kept to a minimum or completely left out.

I absolutely love the cast. Not everyone was shown in the trailer, but seeing Donnie Yen and Forest Whitaker suited up had me going crazy. Those AT-ATs on the beach look awesome. Felicity in a TIE pilot outfit looks awesome too. Basically this whole trailer is awesome! Just go see for yourself on the Star Wars YouTube channel.
